What is CBD?

 

Short for cannabidiol, it is a chemical compound from the Cannabid sativa plant, which is also known as marijuana. It is a naturally occurring substance that is used in products like oils and edibles. CBD gives a feeling of relaxation and calmness and it is a safe, non-addictive substance. The cannabis plant has two main components CBD and THC. The CBD does not have any psychoactive side effects.

CBD is commonly used to address anxiety,and for patients who suffer through the misery of insomnia, studies suggest that CBD may help with both falling asleep and staying asleep. CBD has many qualities that can treat a wide range of condtions such as providing relief for chronic pain, anxiety, inflammation, depression and many other things.

CBD may not have psychoactive side effects but it does come with some. Which include nausea, fatigue and irritability. CBD can increase the level in your blood and it can raise levels of certain other medications in your blood. A significant safety concern with CBD is that it is primarily marketed and sold as a supplement, not a medication. Currently, the FDA does not regulate the safety and purity of dietary supplements.
